How to Stay Sharp on Site This Summer

Hydrate Before Your Shift Starts

If you wait until you’re thirsty, you’re already playing catch-up. Start hydrated and keep topping up throughout the day, especially on outdoor shows and long builds. This is one of the simplest things you can do to protect your performance and your health on site.

Prepare for Everything Outdoors

Festival fields, stadiums and outdoor productions often mean hours in direct sun. Sun cream, a hat and sunglasses aren’t optional extras, they’re part of being prepared for the job. Bring more water than you think you’ll need.

Fuel the Machine

Long shifts and hot weather are a bad combination if you’ve skipped breakfast or are running on energy drinks alone. Proper food keeps your energy and focus where they need to be. Treat your body like the tool it is.

Know the Warning Signs

Feeling dizzy, unusually tired, sick or struggling to focus? These are signs your body is under stress. Say something. Looking after yourself and speaking up when you’re not okay is part of being a solid crew member, not a weakness.

Look Out for Each Other

At Five Star Crew, teamwork is at the core of everything we do. If someone’s struggling in the heat, check in. Sometimes a bottle of water, five minutes in the shade, or a quick “you alright?” goes a long way. Summer on site is best when the whole team looks out for each other.
