December saw us back in the heart of London, delivering the set-up and take-down for one of the UK’s most high-profile events: The Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations. Working closely with our long-standing client Identity, our teams were deployed across multiple key locations, playing a crucial role in bringing the capital’s iconic night to life.

Complex Logistics Across Central London
Our crew operated across three main hubs: Doon Street, MOD Gardens, and Jubilee Gardens (London Eye). Doon Street and MOD Gardens served as primary infrastructure compounds, housing technical equipment, Heras fencing, plant machinery, and security furniture. Positioned strategically north and south of the river, these hubs enabled the careful closure and reopening of central London streets around the event—ensuring public safety while supporting a seamless event operation.
At Jubilee Gardens, our night shift crews handled the technical setup at the London Eye, installing and positioning lighting dollies over four consecutive nights. The first three nights focused on rehearsals and programming, ensuring every technical detail was perfectly aligned ahead of the main event.
Delivering Expertise at Every Level
From infrastructure builds and logistics to technical unloads and deployments, the project showcased the breadth and versatility of our crews. Led by John McDade, our Large Projects Crew Chief, and supported primarily by our London team—with additional assistance from Birmingham for one of the days—the operation highlighted Five Star Crew’s nationwide capability to deliver large-scale, complex events.
