2026 has already proven to be a landmark year for Five Star’s London Event Crew and Large Projects Division. Across five major projects, the team delivered over 1,500 shifts spanning festivals, exhibitions, stadium events and one of the biggest public gatherings the capital has ever seen. Here’s how it unfolded.

Brief

AWS | 15th April | 8 Days | 466 Shifts

The year opened at scale. AWS required multiple Five Star teams to operate simultaneously across multiple departments. Exhibition and corporate builds, lighting, truss installation and de-rig, and drape hanging, with forklifts operating on site throughout. Projects of this complexity demand precise coordination between crews and across eight days, the team delivered exactly that, seamlessly and without disruption.

Brockwell Live | 20th May | 13 Days | 354 Shifts

Brockwell Live brought 13 consecutive days of festival production work. Set up, band turnovers and on stage and backstage support throughout the event. Led by Terry, the team worked through some of the hottest conditions of the year without missing a beat. A physically demanding project delivered to the highest standard.

SXSW London | 28th May | 13 Days | 477 Shifts

The London edition of SXSW presented a unique logistical challenge: a central base at Truman Brewery with activity spread across multiple venues throughout Shoreditch. Over nearly two weeks, the Five Star team managed exhibition builds, stage turnarounds, seating, furniture installations and forklift operations across the whole footprint. Led by McDade, 477 shifts were delivered across a fast-moving, multi-site environment.

Arsenal Victory Parade | 31st May | 1 Day | 33 Shifts

One million people lined the streets of London for the Arsenal victory parade. Five Star crew were deployed in sector teams along the full length of the route, maintaining the barriers that kept the event safe and the crowds managed. A single day of high-pressure, high-visibility work and the team delivered.

London Stadium T1 | 25th May | 7 Days | 230 Shifts

A stadium turnaround of this scale requires a crew that can perform under real pressure. Tommy led the operation, with James Kelly and Luiz Queiroz alongside him and James Edgar heading up the WAH team. The result was a seamless transition delivered on time and to specification. Seven days, 230 shifts, zero compromises.

A Record-Breaking Weekend

What made this period truly historic was not just the individual projects, it was what happened when several of them converged. Jack Alexander, Five Star’s Large Projects Manager, reflects on what the team achieved:

“This June marked a historic weekend for Five Star — the busiest in our company’s history. From a large projects perspective, we set a new record: the highest number of large projects delivered simultaneously in a single day. That is no small achievement. To every crew chief, crew member, forkie, and WAH team who contributed, thank you. Your dedication and professionalism are what drive this company forward, and it is because of your efforts that we are building a lasting legacy for large projects at Five Star Crew. Next comes Glasgow with the Commonwealth Games!”
